Privacy policy

Openline is a marketplace based in Texas, USA. We help people publish a paid message link and get paid for replies. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Introduction and scope

Openline, Inc. operates openline.to. This policy applies to anyone who visits our site, creates a recipient account, or sends a paid message through the service. It covers information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using Openline, you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

Recipients. If you publish a link, we collect your email address, the name and display name you choose, your headline, biography, profile photo, chosen handle, mobile phone number, the timestamp and exact wording of your SMS consent, your price and reply window, and the history of messages sent to you and your replies.

Senders. If you send a paid message, you do not create an account. We collect your name, work email, company name, and the content of the message you send.

Automatically. We collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and timestamps.

We do not collect or store card numbers, bank account details, Social Security numbers, or tax identification numbers. Those are handled directly by Stripe, and we never see them.

3. How we use information

We use your information to operate the service, process payments, send notifications, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations. Specifically, this means:

  • Displaying your profile and routing messages to you.
  • Authorizing, capturing, and refunding payments through Stripe.
  • Sending you email and SMS alerts about paid messages.
  • Detecting spam, abuse, and fraud before money moves.
  • Keeping records required by tax and financial regulations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not track you across other websites for marketing purposes.

4. Message content

We store the messages you send and receive, and we transmit them between the parties. We process message content through an AI provider to generate a short one-line summary for notifications and to screen for spam and abuse. The AI provider does not use your messages to train its models.

We keep message content for two years after it is sent, unless you delete your account sooner. Some message metadata may be kept longer for legal and financial records.

5. SMS and text messaging

Recipients opt in to text messages during account setup. The checkbox is not pre-selected, and you cannot continue without checking it. The exact consent text we show is:

"I agree to receive text messages from Openline about paid messages sent to my link, including new message alerts and reminders before my reply window closes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy."

We send text messages only to notify you of paid messages and reminders before your reply window closes. We never send marketing or promotional texts. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share mobile numbers only with our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, so it can deliver those messages.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. For full details, see openline.to/sms.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics cookies. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not share cookie data with ad networks.

7. Payment information

Stripe handles all payment processing, including authorizing sender cards, capturing payments, and paying recipients. Recipients create a Stripe Standard account directly with Stripe, and Stripe collects identity and banking information under its own privacy policy. We never see or store card numbers, bank account details, or government-issued identification numbers.

For more, see Stripe's privacy policy.

8. How long we keep information

We keep your account data while your account is open, and for two years after you close it. Transaction records are kept for seven years to satisfy tax and financial regulations. Message content is kept for two years. Logs and security records are kept for one year.

Some records must be retained even after a deletion request when required by law, such as payment records for tax or financial compliance.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and receive a portable copy of the personal information we hold about you. You can also object to certain processing or withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise these rights, email us at support@openline.to. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. Some records may be kept longer for legal or financial compliance reasons.

10. State privacy rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Texas have rights under state privacy laws, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete or correct it, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing.

We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. We do not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you have a request under any of these laws, email support@openline.to.

11. Children

Openline is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We encrypt data in transit using TLS and limit access to databases and systems. We apply access controls and review permissions regularly. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.

13. International users

Openline is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and notify active recipients by email. Your continued use of Openline after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
